Kateb Maktub initiative is launching a competition to exponentially increase the number of Arab author pages and Arabic books on English Wikipedia. The month-long competition is starting 18 July and calls on the public to create articles about Arabic authors and Arabic books in English.
The Emirates Literature Foundation and the Wikimedians of UAE User group aim to increase the number of articles of Arabic literature available on English Wikipedia and to introduce the international public to Arabic literature and Arab writers. Based on last year's 2021 Kateb Maktub Competitions success, that was done in Arabic, where we added nearly 2,000 articles about Arab authors to Arabic Wikipedia. We organized this year's Kateb Maktub competition with financial and administrative support from the Wikimedians of UAE User group.
The winners will be announced in September 2022. The first prize winner is awarded US $500. Runners-up receive US $400 for second place and US $300 for third place.
